Recently the U.S. government worked to improve safety and health protection for workers across America by bringing our chemical label and safety sheet systems in line with what is used in other countries: the Globally Harmonized System (or GHS, for short).
OSHA decided to adopt the GHS to provide American workers with more extensive information about the chemicals in their workplaces. This system uses pictograms to make it easier for employees to recognize chemical hazards. And, because the same pictograms are being used in many countries around the world, people everywhere will be able to quickly understand a chemical’s potential dangers.
To ensure that all employees are up-to-date, all staff within your facility must complete a training course on these new regulations by October 1st, 2013!
Don’t panic. We’ve got the perfect training module (and even though it was written for nursing assistants- anyone within your facility can benefit from the information)!
“Chemical Hazards in the Workplace” has now been updated to include a complete review of the new regulations. After completing this inservice, your CNAs will also benefit by receiving one hour of continuing education credit!
